Hi, I’m Yan Makieiev — the filmmaker behind Yanfilms.
My style is timeless, documentary, and unscripted — with an editorial eye. I’m not here to turn your wedding into a staged music video; I’m here to tell your story in a way that lets you relive it, every time you press play.
I film from three perspectives at once: you, your partner, and the people who showed up for you. The big moments matter, but so do the quiet ones — the breath before the aisle, hands shaking during vows, the reactions that make the day feel real.
When you want that clean, stylish look, I’ll guide you with light direction and simple prompts so you never feel awkward on camera. Then I step back and let the day unfold — so your film feels elevated, but still true to you.

How far in advance should we book?
If you have a date in mind, reach out. Some couples book 12–18 months ahead, and some much closer — availability depends on the exact day and season.
Do you direct us or keep it candid?
Both. I’ll give light editorial direction when it helps (so you look great), then step back and let the real moments unfold.
When will we receive our film?
Typical delivery for a fully edited film is 30–60 business days. If you have a specific deadline coming up, tell me early, and I’ll set expectations clearly.
Can my film remain private?
Yes. If you’d like everything kept offline (no website/social), I offer a confidentiality option that can be added to your package.
Do you travel for weddings?
I am happy to travel to your wedding location. GTA, elsewhere in Canada, and internationally. Travel costs depend on location and schedule, and I’ll break it down clearly during the consultation.
How long are your films?
It depends on the day and the package. Your highlight film is a tight, cinematic recap, and if you want more of the day in real time, you can add a Documentary Edit — a longer, chronological film that includes everything in between (prep, first look, ceremony, speeches, and dances) so you can rewatch it like a memory.
How do we book you?
Message me your date + venue and a quick note about your vibe. If I’m available, we’ll do a quick chat, then it’s a simple contract + retainer to make it official.
